Rick has practiced law in Long Beach for 22 years. He is married to a native of Long Beach and has three children. He is involved in volunteer work for the local schools, a member of the Board of Directors for D.A.R.E. and a commission member of Bay Shore Congregational Church. Rick is an avid yacht racer and a member of the Long Beach Yacht Club. His father, Richard Sr., was a Long Beach police officer for thirteen years ultimately rising to the level of Sargeant. Thereafter his police work done, Briz Sr. passed the state bar, became an attorney and moved into the city prosecutors office where he represented the people of the City of Long Beach in criminal matters for twenty one years.
